If I may ask, how many thoughts are gushing through your mind right now?
I am sure that you will go out of count, as in a milli second you are having infinite thoughts cluttering in your mind. If you closely observe we stick to a thought unless the other overpowers the flow. Do you sometimes feel if you could tone down your thoughts or if you could just focus on a single thought?
Often it happens we start thinking about something and then drop it off without a closure the moment we have something else on our plate. To control the mind, complete a task and be attentive of the space you are in paves a path to success.
It is Mindfulness that we are talking about, the fundamental ability to live completely in present. Being aware about where you are and what you’re doing. Mindfulness is an achievable state of mind where there are no second thoughts, mind is not over-hyper, reactive instead cultivate thoughts in a much-poised manner.
It’s no rocket science as biologically we possess it by birth, but learning to access mindfulness needs practice. It’s a super-power that we are given, it’s just that we are not aware.
You may ask me who needs to be mindful, is there a specific timeline for the same?
You, me and everyone needs to be mindful and there is absolutely no timeline. It’s never late to enable mindfulness in your life. With the right mindset there is solution to every problem and with a disturbed mind you will have problems for every solution. Being mindful gifts us a peaceful life and helps us dealing with several turmoil with grace.

In todays busy world and fast pacing life, we could lack concentration & focus. You may be prioritizing everything else but yourself. It’s seen that we make time for all the important things in the world, but if I ask you in 24hours how much time you give to yourself?
It may surprise you but you still don’t know a lot of things about yourself. Self-awareness needs to be practices. How self-aware do you feel?
Knowing yourself and understanding your unique identity does wonders, Getting validation from others is easy but evaluating oneself brings in the best critics. Once you are aware about yourself, you tend to compare behavior, emotions that you have with your internal values & standard. Mindfulness helps you in knowing the person that you are and enriching the best version that you can be.
The five key attitudes that you need to develop for being mindful:
- Being Patient, say no to anxiety.
- Allowing new possibilities and expanding the horizon of thoughts.
- Non-judgmental, a non-bias attitude.
- Gaining trust within oneself.
- Accepting the person, you are!
Try a beginner’s exercise of mindfulness as mentioned below:
One of the best ways to practice mindfulness is by meditating everyday, its the first thing you can consider after you wake up. Before starting your hectic day & your hustling thoughts, spare quick 5 minutes to sit straight and prepare your body by connecting your mind & soul. Take a deep breath & say “I AM ALIVE, thank you!” Self affirmation works like magic. Repeat thoughts of gratefulness, say “thank you for this beautiful life!” and take 10 deep breaths, inhale & exhale deeply, as if you can hear your breathing sound, feel the warm air flowing inside & cold air breathing out. Just relax in that moment & be thankful for every breath you are taking.
Another daily exercise to practice mindfulness is Taking A Pause anytime in the middle of the day. I would say this is like a shortcut to practicing mindfulness 😉 Now the question is How?
– Anytime in the middle of the day, when you are feeling anxious or too many thoughts cluttering in your mind or unable to make quick decisions or if you are feeling confused or when there are back to back things to e done as fast as you could; just TAKE A PAUSE, One deep breath & keep saying within “I TRUST MYSELF” till you believe yourself. Repeat as many times as you want till you feel peaceful at that moment. This whole process will take only a minute or 2. And now you can bounce back to your next agenda with more power.
Be mindful & be Happy !
