We are almost at the edge of 2023, take a pause and think about the last two years of pandemic that struck humans in March 2020. Don’t you think the world went quiet.
To look at one pro, being locked down at home, we got time to bond with family and to nourish our hobbies. While nature was healing, humans re-evaluated their own life’s worth.
I understand that it’s a task to match the frequency of today’s noise around us, but I believe it’s not impossible. Just like you must be fond of de-cluttering your personal space, it’s equally important to de-clutter your soundscape.
Every moment is made of innumerable noise & chaos fighting for our attention, we are here to talk about restoring, reclaiming the calm & to truly hear ourselves!
What’s unique in us as humans?
The beauty of feelings and emotions I would say. There are basic four kinds of emotion that our life possibly revolves around i.e. happy, sad, anger and fear. Now, these emotions are not same for all at every situation. It’s completely a personal feeling, and no one can be stated wrong. For example: You may get a surprise gift & be extremely happy about it, the same gift might make another person sad as he/she were expecting something else. Some people who doesn’t like surprises it might make them angry & some might fear the concept of surprise as they don’t know how to react and skips a heart-beat.
As mentioned above no one is wrong, it’s about accepting your emotions so that you can truly hear yourself. Know your feelings that will help you understand your goals and life better.
Majority of us are not accustomed with listening to own emotions. It can be because of our upbringing, as a part of growing up maybe you have convinced yourself that emotions are useless and better to avoid them than acknowledge.
Escaping is never an option, to acknowledge & listen to your emotion is a priority. Your emotions always have something to convey!
How do we explore our emotions and understand them better?
- Identify the exact feeling.
- Letting the emotion stay as we sit with it.
- Not judging the feeling or disapproving the inflow of emotions.
- Accepting the moment and the feeling.
- Finding out the reason why such an emotion.
Your body & mind tells you everything that you need to know, but you need to have a sense of attention to hear yourself out.
Often, it happens that with the rush of emotions we don’t have enough talent to handle when emotions feel big. In such situations you need to ground yourself and not get blown away. Take long breathes and relax your mind.
There is nothing as such as a bad emotion, there may be times you would want to ignore a feeling but let me tell you, you are missing on the meaningful message it has to share with you. A small example can be the expression of sadness, if we try to run from sadness we might not understand that “we are missing our loved ones” that’s why we are feeling sad.
The world is full of noise but you will hear only the things you pay attention to. Have you ever noticed you may be sitting in a public place with people jabbering around you, but you can only listen to few conversations and not all? Our mind filters what we want to hear.
Hear yourself because the only thing that matters is how you perceive yourself.
Do you know how the person you see in the mirror is feeling right now?
A small exercise: Sit and write the exact feeling you have right now. How do you feel about your feeling and why are you feeling this way?
Your life moment just might become crystal with this small exercise.
Thanks for hearing me out.
Let’s catch up, drop in a “Hi” & I will be there for you.
